Amongst others, there are 3 important bands of radar frequencies being used for speed detection in Europe and the UK . They are the "K" band, the "Ka" band, and the "KU" band.

While others are certainly used, most fixed Gatso's are K band and most mobile traps (police in vans) are Ku band, or laser.
